Art Exhibit Opening Friday: A Little of This... A Little of That
by Crystal Hegel
Come to Alaska Litho’s Art Walk event at our downtown office this Friday for an exhibit of mixed-media works by local artist Crystal Hegel.
A Little of This... A Little of That is just that—a variety of pieces and samples of the artist’s work from the last 10 years, including various fine-art printmaking techniques and sculpture. Primarily making use of serigraphy, etching, and relief, Hegel combines multiple techniques as part of her creative printmaking process. Also included in the exhibit will be three-dimensional works of ceramic sculpture, as well as photography.
Join us at Alaska Litho’s downtown office on Friday, February 3rd, from 4:30-7pm! Refreshments will be available, and there are still some 2012 poster calendars available with Ron Gile's inspiring orca photo Morning Breath.

Save Your Seat Now: Politics and Social Media
As part of our ongoing winter seminar series, Media Psychologist Jenny Fremlin is leading a small group exploration of public life and social media. Find out how social media is being used in political campaigns, influencing government services, and changing how citizens connect with elected officials.
During this seminar we’ll review innovative government outreach with social media and explore how social media can be an effective tool at the local, regional, and national level. Special guest Lael Harrison, local attorney at Faulkner Banfield, will discuss legal considerations for local governments using social media.
$95/person. Register now.
This event is part of a 6-month seminar series that ties together technical knowledge, hands-on experience, theoretical understanding, and research to explain a range of evolving media.

Photo Exhibit and Self-Publishing Q&A During Art Walk Tomorrow!
During Art Walk tomorrow our downtown office will be presenting the opening reception for Southeast Seasons, a photography exhibit by Ron Gile. Ron is the 2012 digital photo contest winner, and his selection of photographs capturing Southeast Alaska throughout the year will be up for the month of January.
You'll also have a chance to talk with Travis McCain and Jenny Fremlin, PhD, about how to bring your dreams of publishing to life by self publishing locally. Whether you have a story brewing that you need to share or a lifetime of knowledge to pen, they can outline the process of self publishing including setting up ebooks, using local on-demand printing, and promoting your book.
Stop in to our Seward Street office while you enjoy the local art out on the town during First Friday. We'll also have refreshments!
